DescriptionWhite cotton pillowcase with hand-embroidered outline of Cyprus.Dimensions17.75 x 24.75 in. (45.1 x 62.9 cm)Historical NotesThis pillowcase belonged to the donor's father's family (family of Andreas Constantinides). Andreas Constantinides, who came from Cyprus, was married to Eugenia Pagonis, who emigrated from Kardamyla in Chios, Greece in 1947. The handmade design on the pillowcase represents Cyprus. They married in 1948 in St. Nicholas Church in Oakland. Collection includes two aprons and two pillowcases. The aprons belonged to Eugenia and the pillowcases are from Andreas’ family. The textiles in this collection were made by either Eugenia or sent to the couple by members of their families, and were probably part of Eugenia's trousseau.
