Historical NotesGlass bank in the shape of a house that advertises Pittsburgh Paints, a division of Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG). The bank has a slot to insert coins, to retrieve the coins the bank must be broken. Valuable as an advertising piece for a local company, the bank may have also been produced locally by Pittsburgh Corning, manufacturers of glass block. The bank consists of two cast or molded pieces, joined with an epoxy in the center to form the house. The house resembles glass block. It is possible the Pittsburgh Plate Glass manufactured the pieces, though it is out of their normal scope of work.
