Historical NotesRound paper tag for entrance to presentation of "E" Award at American Bridge shipyard in July 1944.Label TextMany Pittsburgh companies garnered the coveted Army/Navy “E” Award for excellence during World War II. Recognized for its outstanding performance in electrical installation on LSTs (Landing Ship Tanks), this pennant went home with an employee of Brit Equipment Company. The company contributed to building 72 LSTs between May 15, 1943, and July 29, 1944, an average of one every six days. The ships were built at the Ambridge shipyard of the American Bridge Company and at Neville Island by the Dravo Company; both companies also received “E” awards.
