Historical NotesMemorial sign for soldiers in action in World War II. This sign was found in the basement of donor Leanne Longwill's home, which was built in 1900 as part of the Staub dairy farm in Churchill. The wooden keystone-shaped sign contains the names of many local boys who were serving in WWII. All of the names listed were men whose families had land on what was once the dairy farm. Included are Anton and Frederick Schoepke whose father emigrated from Austria.
