DescriptionRound gold medal attached to a red, white, and blue vertical striped ribbon, with pin attached to top. The front of the medal has a design of a Grecian woman and three atheletes, and text around edge. On the back there is a design of leaves around the edge, and in the center is an inscription. Attached to ribbon in back is a paper tag with text handwritten in blue ink.Dimensions1.75 x 3.5 in. (4.4 x 8.9 cm)InscriptionsThe front of the pin reads "Championship." Text on women's shield reads: "AMA". Text around the edge: "ALLEGHENY MOUNTAIN ASSN. OF THE A.A.U." Text in center on back reads: "100 YDS / FREE STYLE / WOMEN / 1929". Attached to ribbon in back is a paper tag with: "KEYSTONE / AC / 12-6-29 / 1:9 2 / 5" handwritten in blue ink.
Historical NotesDonated by Cleon Wingard, whose mother, Lenore Kight Wingard, was an Olympic swimmer and an internationally renowned athlete in the 1930s. She participated in the 1932 and 1936 Olympic Games.
