Historical NotesHelmet worn by Joseph R. Tomaino, who served in the Pacific during WWII and was on the U.S.S. Vincennes when it sunk in the Battle of Savo Island. Upon leaving the service he taught refrigeration in the Pittsburgh area and was also a key organizer of the Marine Corp Youth Fitness League. Donor Jeanne Flaherty was a neighbor of Tamaino.
