DescriptionDrawig on rectangular piece of brown construction paper. Construction paper has been covered with small lines of oil pastel. Along the right side, there are light blue, light pink, and peach lines. Towards the middle of the image, there are lime green, dark green, light blue, and yellow lines. Surrounding these lines are tan, brown, yellow, and purple. In the center of the green lines, there are white, blue, pink, and purple blobs. Historical NotesArtwork by the Pittsburgh artist Samuel Rosenberg. Artist and teacher Samuel Rosenberg (1896-1972) had a prolific career in Pittsburgh, leading him to be called the “Dean of Pittsburgh painters.” He is perhaps best-known for his scenes of the Hill District in the 1920s and 1930s. Rosenberg was a beloved presence in the Pittsburgh art world and influenced numerous artists through his teaching careers at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement, Young Men & Women’s Hebrew Association, and Carnegie Tech.
