Historical NotesMary Rickenbach Voegtly was born Basel, Switzerland. She married to Nicholas Voegtly, Jr. in 1821, and the following year they emigrated to the United States. The couple settled in Pittsburgh. She died in Allegheny in 1872. The portrait is of donor Suzanne Maury's grandmother.
