Historical NotesA black velvet Joseph Horne Company evening coat purchased in 1927 for Margaret Beadle Caverly. In 1909, Margaret Beadle Caverly was born in Brockway, Pa. Her father passed when she was young and her uncle Robert Beadle became the provider for her, her sister Anna and their mother Mary Jane. People with money in Brockway did their shopping in Pittsburgh and Robert took Margaret to Horne's in order to buy a new wardrobe for college, as she would be attending Goucher College that year. This coat was purchased as part of her college wardrobe in 1927.
