Historical NotesLight fixture from Joseph Horne Company department store in downtown Pittsburgh. The fixture hung in the main floor at the flagship store on the corner of Penn and Stanwix. The donor bought the fixture in the late 1990s from a local antique dealer. Collected to document the changing interior of department stores and because parts of it are likely made from local glass. In the department store heyday in Pittsburgh, Horne's was known as the higher end store, compared with Kaufmann's and Gimbels. The fixture dates back to at least the 1930s based on photographs of the interior.
