DescriptionRectangular quilt with Log Cabin and Courthouse Steps patterns. Top made of three-eight-of-an-inch pieced strips around small squares in Log Cabin construction. A wide variety of fabrics was used to create multi-colored diamonds (brown, beige, red, blue) alternating against a black to dark green background. Fabrics included are wool challis, silk velvets, and blended twills. Border is composed of parallel strips set perpendicular to edge. Binding is made of commercial black braid trim applied on back. Back is pieced in four strips of different fabrics which are green, pink, yellow plaid, and a paisley print composed of pink, blue, and beige. Quilt is tied together at corners of squares with brown/tan yarn.Dimensions175 cm long 167 cm wideHistorical NotesMade by Mrs. Edward Franzel's mother.
