Historical NotesThis copper still was found in the attic of donor Clem Adams' grandfather's home. Clem Adams' father, Joseph Adams, recalled that as a child there was something stuck in the attic of his parents' (Mary and Stephen Adams) home and when he cleaned out the house in 1974, he went to the attic and found the still hidden there. A former neighbor of his grandparents, James Fetsko, recalled that his grandparents actually owned the still and had stored it at their neighbors because they were afraid of it being discovered and they never recovered it. Clem Adams' grandfather lived in Whitaker, near Homestead, and was a streetcar conductor.
