DescriptionRectangular canvas and wood hamper or cart. Tan canvas sides with metal framework. Two wood panels serve at lid; the panels are attached to the cart with metal hinge-brackets. Metal handle and latch at top center of lid. Rectangular wood-frame base. Cart has four metal casters with rubber wheels: two large stationary wheels at the center of the long sides and two small rotating wheels at the center of the two short sides. Canvas handles at top center of each short side.DimensionsHeight x Width x Depth: 38.5 × 63.5 × 26 in. (97.8 × 161.3 × 66 cm)
InscriptionsNumerous stickers (both partial and complete), handwritten notes, and stencils on the top including:
Sticker: "PRIORITY" printed red text on white background;
Sticker: "Beauty Salon" handwritten in blue ink on red-orange partial sticker;
"00 DOWNTOWN" printed in black on black and white barcode stickers;
"CARPENTER SHOP / WAREHOUSE" stenciled in yellow paint;
"Big / BoB" handwritten in red crayon;
"KKK" handwritten in red crayon.

Interior of lid has "BIG" spraypainted in silver.
Historical NotesPart of a collection of artifacts that document the downtown location of Kaufmann’s (became Macy’s) department store. This large collection of items was field gathered from the downtown location of Macy’s (formerly Kaufmann’s) after the store’s final closing was announced in the fall of 2015.
