Peter I was king of Serbia from 1903-1918.Label TextKing Alexander Karadjordjevic was the first king of the Kingdom of Jugoslavia (1929-34), and before that, king of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (1921-29). Born into the royal House of Karadjordjevic in 1888 in Montenegro, he married Princess Mary of Romania. His political goal was to integrate the various ethnic and cultural groups into a unified Yugoslavia. In 1934, while on a visit to France, King Alexander was assassinated by an internal extremist group opposed to Alexander’s policies.
