Historical NotesMarine Core baseball uniform and hat of Joseph G. Guter, born in Latrobe, PA, in April 1931. Guter served in the Marines from 1953-1955 where he played catcher on the Corps baseball team. The donated uniform was the team’s travel uniforms. After his military service Guter played several seasons with the Latrobe American Legion team as a catcher. After his retirement from playing, he officiated games at the high school and college level until his death in 1987.
