DescriptionWhite metal sign with a red border and red writing relating to high school football team. On either side of the "#1" are images of Native Americans in feathered headdress. The sign is attached to the wall by a metal bolt near each corner. In each corner is township name stamped in black. The lower left corner also has text stamped in black.Dimensions48 x 48 in. (121.9 x 121.9 cm)InscriptionsSign reads: "WELCOME / TO / ROSS TWP. / HOME OF / NORTH HILLS INDIANS / #1 / HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM / IN THE U.S.A. / 1987".
In each corner "ROSS TWP" is stamped in black.
The lower left corner also has "9 25 89 BR" stamped in black.
Historical NotesThis sign was donated by North Hills High School from their 1987 championship season.Label TextWelcome sign, Ross Township, 1987 In 1987, the North Hills High School football team went 13–0 for the season, won the WPIAL Class AAAA Championship, and was ranked number one in the country the entire season by USA Today. The community demonstrated its pride by erecting these roadside signs around the township.
