Historical Notes"White out" T-shirt. Every person in attendance at the game received this type of t-shirt to wear during the game, causing the entire audience to appear completely white in order to distract the opposing team. This t-shirt is from game 2 of the conference finals against the Carolina Hurricanes on May 21, 2009. The Penguins won 7-4 and went on to win the series 4-0 to clinch the Eastern Conference title. The Penguins met the Detroit Redwings for the second year in a row in a exciting 7-game Finals for the Stanley Cup, where they won the lauded trophy in four games to three; they became the second team since 1971 to win the Cup after losing the first two games of the series.
