Historical NotesEarl Buford became the second African American chief of the Pittsburgh Police in 1992 after Mayer DeRoy. He was first hired as a patrolman in 1968 and went on to become an undercover narcotics investigator, zone commander, and an assistant chief. Part of the Pittsburgh Police Historical Association collection.
