Historical NotesCycling jersey worn by Seth Gernot on the PNC Legacy Trail Ride. On October 3, 2008, PNC Legacy Relay riders started at the Georgetown branch of PNC Bank in Washington, D.C., formerly a branch of Riggs National Bank, "the bank of presidents," to begin the 24-hour relay that would travel 335 miles of the C&O Towpath and Great Allegheny Passage in Pittsburgh. A Congressional proclamation recognizing the 250th anniversary of Pittsburgh made the trip with the riders. Over 500 bikers of all ages from across the country joined the PNC Legacy Trail Ride and rode into Point State Park on October 4 to help kick of Pittsburgh's 250 Celebration. Gernot also carried an American flag (2008.146.2) with him on the bike ride.
