Historical NotesDonor, Joseph Arroyo, served 28 years as a Pittsburgh Police officer before retiring. He was on the television show 'Cops" on February 2, 1991. Donor received the Meritorious Service medal in 1981. He was on scene at seven bank robberies in three days. The last one ended in a shooting; another cop and a civilian were shot; the gunman tried to shoot the donor at close range but his gun misfired. The robberies occurred from Monday to Wednesday (April 12th 1989).
