(100.3 cm)Historical NotesDonor Margaret Dury claims this parasol was used with the "Going Away" suit, 2007.139.2 a,b, said to be part of Margaret Carnegie Perkins Laughlin's trousseau from her marriage to John Z. Speer Laughlin, of Jones & Laughlin fame; they were married between 1923-1929. Objects given to donor Margaret Dury by Cynthia Laughlin, daughter of Margaret C. P. Laughlin and John Z. S. Laughlin, who lived across the street from donor in Edgeworth. Margaret C.P. Laughlin was the granddaughter of Thomas Carnegie (1843-1886), an instrumental executive in the Carnegie steel empire and only brother of Andrew Carnegie.
