DescriptionDark green and brown fabric and leather covered trunk with a missing leather handle on the top of the long side and a torn leather handle on the top of the short side. Two metal latches and locks on the short side, one metal latch on the long side. Trunk opens along a diagonal line. Four metal pegs on the long bottom and four on the short bottom. Interior is lined with tan and green plaid fabric.Dimensions29 x 20.5 x 9.375 in. (73.7 x 52.1 x 23.8 cm)
Historical NotesPart of a collection related to the basketball career of Dr. Harry R. Zeller. Zeller played high school, independent, college, and professional basketball before becoming a doctor. Zeller first played basketball at St. George High School and also played in the Pittsburgh Municipal League whose games were played at the South Side Market House court. He went on to play for Washington and Jefferson for four years and for the University of Pittsburgh for two while attending medical school. While at Pitt he was named to the All-East team in 1946. Professionally he played for the Pittsburgh Ironmen from 1947 to 1948. While at Pitt he played in the East/West play-off game, the game was played at Madison Square Garden. He died in 2004 at the age of 85.
