BiographyThe Louis Appel Company was a department store in Louisville, Kentucky. The officer’s hat was made by the Louis Appel Company. Louis Appel Company was founded by Louis Appel and first opened on September 13, 1879. As the business boomed, Appel decided to move c.1903 to a newer location which allowed for a bigger business space. Unfortunately, there was a fire at that location in 1929 which made Appel move the company to another location. Louis Appel died in 1936. In addition to military hats like this, the company also manufactured various menswear apparel.
