for Dr. Krikor Yardumian
BiographyDr. Krikor Yardumian was an Armenian immigrant and influential pathologist at Pittsburgh's Montefiore Hospital. Born in Yozgat, Turkey, Yardumian decided to pursue a career in medicine after losing both his parents to disease epidemics. In 1923, he immigrated to Philadelphia with his wife and children, and soon afterwards accepted a job with Pittsburgh's Montefiore Hospital. During 34 years at Montefiore, Dr. Yardumian was active in teaching and research and published numerous works on pathology. He worked to end typhoid epidemics in Pittsburgh and in 1938 founded the first western Pennsylvania school for medical technologists.
