DescriptionBlue decorative stained glass plate. Includes an embossed image of a cross. Vertically and horizontally embossed text on the cross. Outside of the four inside corners of the cross are embossed letters with an embossed circle around each letter. Perimeter of the plate also has embossed text.Dimensions8.25 x 8.25 in. (21 x 21 cm)
InscriptionsVertically embossed on the cross is the text: " C / S / S / M / L" and horizontally embossed on the cross is the text: "N D S M D".

Outside of the four inside corners of the cross are embossed letters with an embossed circle around each letter; the letters going clockwise in the top two corners of the cross are "C" and "S" and the letters at the bottom two corners are "P" and "B".

Top of the plate has the embossed text: "PAX".

Embossed on the left side is the text: "S .. M .. Q .. L .. I .. V .. B".

Embossed on the right side is the text: "V .. R .. S .. N .. S .. M .. V".
Historical NotesPart of a collection that documents the contributions of Catholic orders to healthcare in Western Pennsylvania. The collection was originally on display at Slippery Rock University as an exhibition titled, "Sisters in Healthcare: Sixteen Communities of Religious Sisters in Western PA, 1847-1969." With this collection, the History Center has the largest collection of Pre-Vatican II habits in the United States. Many of the long-standing healthcare facilities in the region were started by the Sisters including Mercy Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and many others.
