Historical NotesBased on the symbol "G in a square" the probable makers of the glass bottle was Glenshaw Glass Company, Glenshaw, Pennsylvania (1895-2004). The mark was reportedly used since 1932. Glenshaw Glass Company later became part of the Anchor Glass Container Corporation, but then was bought by Consumers Packaging Inc, of Toronto, Canada. The Glenshaw plant was closed in November of 2004. The dating system devised for Glenshaw Glass is most unusual: beginning with the letter G to represent the year 1935, they continued alphabetically and numerically until they ran out of letters; a double dating system was then applied, where a letter and a year were both used. Eventually, the alphabet system was dropped completely in the mid-1950s.
