Historical NotesConneaut Lake Park Frisbee. Part of a collection of three Conneaut Lake Park Frisbees that reflect the many changes in ownership that the park experienced in the 1990s. The park was founded in 1892 and originally named Exposition Park, it had a fairground and expo for livestock and industrial products. A railroad bought the property in 1901, and expanded the parks facilities. Over the years roller coasters and other rides were added, but the park always remained intertwined with the community and open to the public. The park began to decline in the 1970s and by 1990, in an effort to gain revenue the owners enclosed the park and made it separate from the community. This decision hurt the park and it continued to decline. Local businessmen made an effort to save the park, and finally in 1997, after several more disastrous ownership changes, the park was given to the community. The park experienced a resurgence in the 2000s. Conneaut Lake is the largest natural lake in Pennsylvania and has always been a popular recreational lake, especially due to the fact that it allows power boats.
