DescriptionBlue rectangular silk prize ribbon; front features gold screen printed prize/event text and image of eagle above shield. Blue cotton string tied through metal eyelet at top. White card attached to ribbon's back with black printed ink. Attached to string is another card with black screen print and typed ink with event and prize information; circular blue sticker with rounded edges mounted on card with prize information.Dimensions1.5 x 6.55 in. (3.8 x 16.6 cm)
InscriptionsRibbon has gold screen printed text on front, "FIRST PRIZE / [image of eagle above shield] / SILVER / ANNIVERSARY / 25TH ALLEGHENY / COUNTY / FAIR / AUGUST 30 / THRU SEPT. 3 / 1962".

White card attached to ribbon's back with black printed ink; includes, "CLASS / PRIZE / AWARDED TO / DATE / JUDGE".

Attached to string is another card with black screen print and typed ink, "ALLEGHENY COUNTY / FAIR AND WESTERN / PENNSYLVANIA EXPOSITION / Department 26 Entry No. 63 / Class 42-B Table Cloth / Crocheted / Name Mrs. Martha Jocns [sic] / Address"; Circular blue sticker with rounded edges on card, "First / [image of eagle over shield] / Prize".

Card has black maker's stamp on brown paper eyelet: "DENNISON MFG. CO. U.S.A. / SKX".
Historical NotesFirst Place prize ribbon awarded at the 1962 Allegheny County Fair to donor Charlotte A. Gebert's aunt , Martha A. Jocuns, for a home-sewn crocheted tablecloth. Born in Pittsburgh of Lithuanian descent, Mrs. Jocuns (1918-1981) was a skilled seamstress who lived and worked on the South Side. She won several awards for her home-sewn creations, including first prize at the 1955 and 1962 Allegheny County Fairs for a centerpiece and the tablecloth (2007.137.1), respectively.
