Historical NotesFirst Place prize ribbon awarded at the 1955 Allegheny County Fair to donor Charlotte A. Gebert's, Martha A. Jocuns, for a homemade centerpiece. Born in Pittsburgh of Lithuanian descent, Mrs. Jocuns (1918-1981) was a skilled seamstress who lived and worked on the South Side. She won several awards for her home-sewn creations, including first prize at the 1955 and 1962 Allegheny County Fairs for a centerpiece and the tablecloth (2007.132.1), respectively.
