DescriptionMilitary uniform consisting of jacket and pants.
Jacket. Green long sleeves. Four buttons down front: embossed on each is image of eagle with anchor in talons. Two breast pockets, two side pockets. Green and red Sergeant patch on both arms; another diagonal line patch below. Diamond-shaped Sea Duty Patch, red, gold and blue, on proper left shoulder. Inner pocket on proper right lining. Attached to proper left breast are multiple military insignia, including honor bars and medals.

Piece of cotton twill tape sewn into waistband with handwriting in black marker, "98.06.11 B" [this is not an HC accession number].
Historical NotesUniform worn by Joseph R. Tomaino, who served in the Pacific during WWII and was on the U.S.S. Vincennes when it sunk in the battle of Savo Island. Upon leaving the service he taught refrigeration in the Pittsburgh area and was also a key organizer of the Marine Corp Youth Fitness League. Donor Jeanne Flaherty was a neighbor of Tamaino.
