Historical NotesThis Louis Marx and Company electric toy train set was gifted to donor Gail Murphy, who grew up in Circleville, Ohio, as a Christmas gift around 1956. Pieces such as the telephone poles were later additions. The Louis Marx and Company started in New York but had two toy factories in Western PA, one in Girard and one in Erie. The Erie plant was their oldest location, but the toy trains were made in the Girard plant, which opened in 1934 after Marx purchased the Girard Model Works.
