DescriptionSilver-colored metal trophy. Trophy is a cup style that is narrow at the bottom and widens at the mouth with carved text on the front. Mouth is circular and open. Two handles that connect at the top just below the rim and at the bottom of the cup. Cup has a circular base that narrows as it connects with the bottom of the cup; base screwed onto a wooden pedestal that has been painted black. Bottom of base has carved and orange handwritten manufacturing information.DimensionsHeight x Width x Depth: 10.438 x 6.25 x 4.5 in. (26.5 x 15.9 x 11.4 cm)
InscriptionsText engraved on front of cup: "THE NEWS HERALD CUP / AWARDED TO THE / UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH / GIRL CHAMPIONS / NEWS HERALD CHURCH / BASKET BALL LEAGUE / 1928-1929".
MarksCarved information on bottom of base: "[illegible] / 3 / [circular logo with letters "P / S" in the middle]".

Orange, handwritten manufacturing text on bottom of base: "#2039".
Historical NotesA trophy won by the women's basketball team at First United Presbyterian Church of Braddock, Pennsylvania. First United Presbyterian Church was organized in 1864 and was first located on the corner of Eleventh Street and the B. & O. Railroad. The church moved in 1893 to a new building on Parker Avenue next to the Carnegie Free Library of Braddock. The church also benefited from Carnegie with the gift of a pipe organ. In 2017 the church had a dwindling membership and made the decision to sell the building to the Mon Valley Initiative with the intent to turn it into condos.
