DescriptionBlack beaded gown, size 40. Sleeveless with wide shoulder straps and arm openings down to the drop-waist. Boatneck lined with colorless rhinestones. Diaphanous black fabric sheath dress with ankle-length straight skirt that widens slightly toward bottom. Dress is fully beaded with overall diamond pattern of clear plastic beads. Front of drop-waist has large interlocking triple diamond pattern of clear and light yellow beads and colorless rhinestones with the bordering overall diamond pattern embellished with colorless rhinestones; back of drop-waist has similar embellishment but with four smaller interlocking diamonds. Front and back of long armscyes and the front and back of the proper right skirt side seam are trimmed with clear beads in a triangular chevron pattern.DimensionsHeight x Width (Width at waist): 51.25 x 18.25 in. Historical NotesPart of a collection of women’s clothing that possibly belonged to donor Louise P. Meyer’s “Aunt Bessie,” her mother’s sister. Most items date from c. 1925 to c. 1935 and belonged to the aunt. She was tall and many of the pieces were made for her and reflect her love of fashion.
