DescriptionFramed oil painting on paperboard(?). Rectangular painting depicts a portrait of a seated elderly woman from the waist up in three-quarter view facing and gazing slightly proper right. Woman has dark brown hair parted in the middle with white fabric and lace bonnet. Woman has blue-gray eyes, wears gold earrings, and her dress is dark brown with lace collar, gold brooch at front of collar, gold necklace hanging down chest with bottom of necklace held in her proper left hand. Dress has black buttons down the front, black bows on the shoulders, black trim on the lower sleeves, and a black belt with gold buckle. Woman wears a gold ring on her proper left little finger and her proper left arm rests on red cushion or chair arm. Green background. Painting's substrate (paper? paperboard?) is mounted on a four member strainer with horizontal crossbar. Painting is framed in a rectangular gilt wooden frame with composition decorative detail band around the side. Reverse of the paperboard has three paper labels adhered to the top with adhesive tape.
