Historical NotesAshtray from Shady Lawn Hotel. The Shady Lawn Hotel was a resort in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania. The original structure was built as a private residence in the late 19th century and sold to Mrs. C. A. Bailey in 1897. After extensive additions, Bailey reopened as the Shady Lawn Hotel. G. M. Manheimer purchased the hotel in 1917. He changed the name to Manheimer’s Shady Lawn Hotel and began catering to Jewish clientele with the addition of a “strictly kosher Hungarian kitchen.” The Shady Lawn Hotel appears to have closed in the early 1930s.
