DescriptionStudio sculpting stand. Wooden stand painted varying tones of gray, light brown, beige, and blue-gray. Rectangular top platform with hole at center and one angled side. Box apron. Four tall legs that angle outward slightly to box stretcher near bottom of stand. Each foot has one metal caster. (102.9 x 41.6 x 42.2 cm)Historical NotesThis pedestal came from sculptor Frank Vittor’s art studio, which was located at 2564 Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The top was used as a surface to model clay and plaster. A pipe was inserted through the hole to keep the clay or plaster secured until the pipe could be removed. Vittor’s grandson, Joseph V. Scatena, removed the pedestal from the studio after Vittor died.
