DescriptionCommemorative school class pin. Circular gold-colored metal pin with ball decoration around perimeter. Front has black hospital name around gold textured perimeter. Center has white enamel background surmounted by gold Maltese or Templar cross with gold square at center; black school name on the cross arms. Reverse is gold with engraved commemorative text at top and horizontal pinback across center.DimensionsDiameter x Depth: 1.125 x 0.25 in. (2.9 x 0.6 cm)
InscriptionsFront has black text around the perimeter "ALLEGHENY GENERAL HOSPITAL" and on the cross arms "TRAINING / SCHOOL / FOR / NURSES".

Reverse has engraved text on the top half "BKerrigan / No 23 / Class of '92".
Historical NotesAllegheny General Hospital Training School for Nurses pin. This pin was collected by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association District 6. The organization had a collection of nursing pins from various Western Pennsylvania nursing programs. The pin belonged to Bessie Kerrigan, who graduated in June of 1892. Allegheny General Hospital is located on the North Side of Pittsburgh. The hospital was chartered in 1882 and on February 15, 1886, the forerunner to today's Allegheny General Hospital opened its doors.
