DescriptionMatching jacket and blouse ensemble.
Custom-made jacket. Olive green heavyweight fabric jacket with polychrome floral designs in red, blue, purple, and brown. Coat is quilted with vertical lines. Long sleeve with subtle pleated puff shoulder. Round neckline. Open down front with three loop frog closures in same matching fabric; top two frog closures have metal hook-and-eye closure also. Fully lined with same fabric as blouse.
Custom-made blouse. Olive green lightweight fabric with polychrome floral designs in red, blue, purple, and brown. Blouse has collar with long ties in front that tie into a bow on the front of the blouse. Three fabric-covered buttons down front neck/chest opening; button fabric matches blouse; black metal snap at top of front opening. Vertical pleats across front of chest, upper back, and around waist. Long-sleeve with subtle pleated puff shoulder and pleats above cuff; each cuff has two purple plastic buttons. Historical NotesCustom-made floral blouse and matching jacket worn by Rochelle S. Friedman at her Commonwealth Court swearing-in ceremony in 1992. Rochelle S. Friedman was raised in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended Rogers School and the University of Pittsburgh for both undergraduate and law school. Friedman served as a judicial law clerk to Judge James R. McGregor of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County and as solicitor to Robert N. Peirce, Clerk of Courts of Allegheny County. After three failed attempts at running for the Court of Common Pleas, she won a seat on the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania and served from 1992 until her retirement in 2016. She was notable for her defense of the first amendment, the rights of women and minorities, and other civil liberties.
