Historical NotesPart of a collection that documents donor Jeffrey Favorite's time serving in the Air Force from 1977 to 2015. The donor used this badge holder during his first desert deployment in 2000 to Saudi Arabia for Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was deployed again in 2003 to Oman and Iraq and then in 2007 to Qatar where he also used it. The donor grew up in Washington, Pennsylvania and graduated from Washington High School in 1977. He joined the Air Force a month after graduating. Favorite decided to join the Air Force because he came from a military family that represented all branches of the military except the Air Force. He went through basic training at Lackland Air Force base in Texas and Technical School at Scott Air Force base in Illinois. His first active duty base was Clark Air Base in the Philippines where he was stationed from 1977-1979 as part of Technical Air Command. He was then stationed at Homestead, Florida from 1979-1981. He went out of the service until 1984 and returned to Pittsburgh during those years where he worked various print shops before joining the Air National Guard. He became a “traditional” weekend warrior (meaning he was in the reserves but deployed frequently) until 1996 when he was hired to a full time position as a civilian technician while maintaining his traditional status until his 2015 retirement.
