DescriptionBlack and brown bonnet. Black fabric straps attached to either side of the bonnet, which tie under the chin. Front of the bonnet consists of fabric held by bent metal that frames the face, with frill attached. A bent metal frame on back of the bonnet, with framing brown / black fabric that covers the back of the head. Two black pieces of fabric attached to the base of the back of the bonnet, presumably a bow. Black lace and frills attached to back of bonnet. DimensionsLength x Width x Depth: 36 x 8 x 4 in. (91.4 x 20.3 x 10.2 cm)
Historical NotesAccording to the donor's family, this bonnet belonged to Elizabeth Jane Cochran Seaman. She is better known by her pen name Nellie Bly.
