DescriptionYellowware teapot. Rockingham ware-style glaze consisting of brown glaze with mottled/streaky yellow glaze. Interior is red-brown glaze. Underside is unglazed with center clear-glazed. Sunken rim for lid, but teapot has no lid. Rim has two lobes for locking lid in place. Body is narrower at top and widens toward bottom of body where it then recedes to base. S-curve spout with five holes inside teapot body for liquid access. Applied handle with pointed crest at top. Footed base. Body has shallow figural relief of bucolic life depicting a woman next to a well with a jug in her arms, the woman is surrounded by trees; this is possibly the biblical scene of Rebecca at the well. InscriptionsUnderside has rectangular white sticker at center with handwritten text in black ink "34 / $175.00".
