InscriptionsFront of button has printed white text around the perimeter "62nd U.S.G.A. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP / OAKMONT COUNTRY CLUB OAKMONT, PA." and yellow and red text at bottom center "PRESS / 179".

Paper insert has handwritten black ink signature "Arnold Palmer" on side facing front and typed black text on side facing reverse "PGH PRESS / Frank Christopher".
Historical NotesUSGA Open Championship press button signed by Arnold Palmer. Frank Christopher covered golf for the Pittsburgh Press and attended the 62nd U.S. Open at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania in 1962, where Arnold Palmer was defeated by Jack Nicklaus. Christopher had Palmer sign the paper name insert of his badge sometime during the championship. For fifteen years, Christopher was a contributing reporter for the Pittsburgh Press, covering sports, crime, and local interest. He later served on the staff of the Allegheny Bar Association before moving to Harrisburg in 1967, where he worked for the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Pennsylvania Department of Education.
