DescriptionPennsylvania long rifle with wooden ramrod. 50 caliber. Medium-toned red-brown wood. Full stock. Rifled percussion. Brass butt plate. Brass patchbox on proper right side of the stock. Inlaid/applied silver metal crocodile on the proper left side of the stock. Trigger and set trigger with brass trigger guard. Brass key on both sides of the barrel below the rear sight. Historical NotesPennsylvania long rifle made by Andrew S. Joy. His shop was located on St. Clair Street in downtown Pittsburgh. The rifle belonged to donor Charles Pennington's partner Dennis Madsen, who inherited it from his father, Robert Christian Madsen. He received it in 1975 as a 60th birthday present from his wife, Virginia Madsen. The Madsen family lived in Madison, Ohio.
