DescriptionOval scapular consisting of pink embroidered border and clear plastic covers, which enclose a white paper oval with serrated edges. The paper has a polychrome image and black text on each side. One side has an image of Jesus Christ and the other side has the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The side with the image of Jesus also has a small metal religious medal and a pink string crossing vertically through center.DimensionsHeight x Width x Depth: 2.25 × 1.625 × 0.125 in. InscriptionsSide with image of Jesus has black printed text at top "Apostleship of Prayer / in League with the / Sacred Heart".

Side with image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus has black printed text at top "Cease! The heart of Jesus is with me!" and at bottom "Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come! / 300 Days each time".
MarksBoth sides have black printed text "COPYRIGHT 1936 BY APOSTLESHIP OF PRAYER"; one side has this at top and the other has it at the bottom.
Historical NotesThis scapular was sent to Dena Dortenzo's mother from Italy and put underneath the mattress to protect whomever was sleeping in the bed. Dena spent her childhood in the predominately Italian American neighborhood of Bloomfield in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended grade school at Immaculate Conception. Dena noted that attending Immaculate Conception, where the congregation was made up of first and second generation Italian Americans, many of their Catholic traditions were brought over from Italy.
