Historical NotesTheater poster that hung in the Nixon Theater lobby. Samuel F. Nixon opened the Nixon Theater in 1903, and it became Pittsburgh premier performance venue until its closing in 1950. It was located on Sixth Avenue, where the Alcoa building now stands. Nixon owned a string of theaters across the Midwest, but he was based in Philadelphia.
