Historical Notes#20 Crane toy. Part of a collection of Wolverine Toy Company toys. The Rath family ran Spang & Company, which bought Wolverine Toy Company in 1968. In 1970, Magnetic Inc. took over the company. Frank E. Rath, the donor Robert Rath, Jr.'s uncle, was chairman of Magnetics Inc., and his father, Robert Rath, was Vice President. Magnetic Inc. acquired all of Wolverine Toy Company's capital stock in an exchange with Spang & Company. Magnetic Inc. then became Spang Industries. The North Side-based toy company, founded in 1906, was shut down that year and production moved to Arkansas and became a division of Spang Industries.
