Historical NotesA copy of The Deerslayer by James Fenimore Cooper that was inscribed by Sebastian Mueller to his son Stanford Mueller. Mueller was both Heinz’s cousin and his brother-in-law. Heinz entrusted him to manage the Pittsburgh plant. All of the Mueller’s three children, including Stanford, died young. The Mueller’s made their home, Eden Hall Farm, a retreat for the women workers at the Heinz plant. The farm became part of Chatham in 2008.
