Historical NotesThis scapular was worn daily by Giacinta Ferri Iannotta as a part of her devotion to the Third Order of St. Francis. Giacinta was originally from Posta Fibreno, Italy. She immigrated to the Lower Hill District of Pittsburgh in 1920, with her husband, Angelo Iannotta. Incredibly devout, as many Italian immigrant women were, she was a frequent church goer and dues-paying member of the Franciscan Missionary Union and the Apostleship of Prayer (League with the Sacred Heart) at St. Peter the Apostle, former Catholic parish of the Italian community of the Hill District.
