Historical NotesBadge from the the annual convention of the Pennsylvania Women's Suffrage Association, also known as the Equal Franchise Federation, worn by delegate Winifred Meek Morris. Winifred Meek Morris, born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, in 1876 to Susan Meek and Peter Gray Meek (editor of Democratic Watchman and State Senator from Centre Co.). She studied as a concert pianist in New York and Philadelphia before marrying Thomas King Morris of Tyrone in 1899. They lived in Aspinwall on the family estate. As her son grew older “Wyn” turned to civic life and was active in the Penn State Association and Equal Franchise Federation. Served as delegate to the state conventions in 1915 and 1917 and assisted the organization’s Liberty Loan drives. Died in 1930, in Bellefonte, and is buried in Meek mausoleum in Union Cemetery.
