InscriptionsScene shows a river boat marked "ALLEGHENY".

Building in scene at left has text on front "HOPE".

Back of plate has handwritten text at center, from top to bottom: "J.A. BEC... / L.729c. / 23102-16964"; the last number is the CMNH object number.
MarksStamps on back in pink transferware: "ALLEGHENY. / SCENERY." and on opposite rim "PEPPARD & CALLAN / IMPORTERS / PITTSBURG".
Historical NotesThis souvneir plate was donated to the Carnegie Museum by John A. Beck on September 23, 1968. He was actively collecting souvneir plates from 1900 to 1914. The plate was transferred to the Heinz History Center in 2019.
